The Nightfall Star Party & Imaging Conference is held at the Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort in Borrego Springs, California. It is owned by Highway West Vacations. The resort has dozens of hotel rooms and plenty of RV spaces for rental on a nightly basis. It also has a handful of permanent travel trailers already hooked up and ready to rent!

The amenities are both inside and outside. From the outside, the hotel reminds one of an old western town yet offers convenient group amenities such as a restaurant and bar, two pools, two hot tubs, a laundry room, and a gym — all for use by guests and their visitors.

Many rooms have either a single king bed or two queen beds. Some have private balconies or patios with scenic desert views. Every room includes a TV, coffee maker, refrigerator, and hair dryer.

The resort offers a warm, western ambiance. It’s perfect for a quiet and relaxing getaway amidst the beauty of the largest contiguous state park in North America, the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

In addition to all of the creature comforts available at the resort year-round, the Palm Canyon Hotel takes special steps to ensure a successful star party experience for Nightfall attendees. By turning off many outdoor lights and replacing the rest with red lights, the resort becomes an amateur astronomer’s wonderland.

Visual observers and astrophotographers enjoy the comfortable evening temperatures and quiet surroundings while taking advantage of the dark skies as well as the benches and power outlets.
